ABOUT US
MEAI was established in June 2020 by Jackie Conboy and Mark O’Reilly in response to the crisis unfolding in the Music & Entertainment sector as a result of Covid-19. The principal goals for this crisis are to maximise workers financial security & wellbeing while at the same time minimising the loss of workforce in the industry.
Since our formation, we have developed working relationships with
* Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection
* Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media
* Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment
* Department of Finance
* Department of Public Expenditure and Reform
We have built solid working relationships with several TD’s and Senators across the various parties.
We have also engaged on behalf of our members with the Arts Council, MABS, St.Vincent de Paul, Minding Creative Minds, IBI, SIPTU (MUI), RAAP, IMRO, VFI, RAI, IHF, Local Enterprise Offices & Authorities, and raised awareness of the current plight in Local & National Newspapers, Radio & Television.
In less than a year MEAI has become one of the most trusted and recognised representative associations for the industry by Government, Media and within the sector.
MEAI’s long term goals are to bring about positive change to the industry on several issues which affect its members e.g. VAT Rates, Insurance, Online Streaming & Royalties, Health & Safety, Fair Pricing and Education.
The Music & Entertainment Association of Ireland wants to develop and secure our industry as a sustainable and renewable industry.
